WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama today lobbied for Republican support from Capitol Hill for a burst of spending on transportation projects, calling his proposal a jobs creator for the middle class and an overdue investment in the country’s foundation.
“There’s no reason why we can’t do this,” Obama said in a brief Rose Garden event. “There’s no reason why the world’s best infrastructure should lie beyond our borders. This is America. We’ve always had the best infrastructure … All we need is the political will.”
Obama is proposing a $50 billion plan as an initial step toward a six-year program of transportation programs. It calls for building, fixing or maintaining thousands of miles of roads, rail lines and airport runways, along with installing a new air navigation system to reduce travel delays, and other projects.
The president unveiled the idea over Labor Day. Today’s event amounted to another chance to promote it. The president met privately with governors, mayors, transportation officials and Cabinet secretaries and then stood with some of them before the cameras as he made his case.

“There’s no reason why we can’t do this,”
I can give you 50 Billion reasons why we can’t do this. It’s $50 Billion the U.S. government just doesn’t have! And I’m pretty sure that it’s $50 Billion dollars that U.S. taxpayers aren’t wanting to cough up right about now.
Hussein Obama (S), is a SOCIALIST of the 1st order. He wants to rob Peter to pay Paul, and that is nothing more than another method of wealth redistribution. Socialism in it’s purest form.
I have seen it written, and heard it said, that the trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money. Obama has run OUT of OUR money. All that’s left for Obama to do now is to borrow money from China, or print more money, thus making our currency even more worthless.
The government can’t create jobs. Try and remember your history lessons and think of this one thing, Franklin D. Roosevelt (D) created all kinds of work programs to bail the USA out of the Great Depression.
The USA only exited the Great Depression because WE were the only manufacturing entity in the world left intact when WWII broke out and we were supplying the world with war materials, and everything else that was needed for survival and victory.
The American workers went back to work to support the war effort, our efforts and those of our allies, and those efforts were spurred by PRIVATE enterprise, not the U.S. government.
If the U.S. taxpayer cuts of the purse strings, the U.S. government hasn’t got a leg to stand on.
The timing also comes as Obama is eager to show action on the sluggish economy just ahead of the Nov. 2 congressional elections, with his party in jeopardy of losing a sizable number of seats in the House and Senate. Obama asked for Republican support, saying infrastructure work typically draws bipartisan support. But such cooperation seems unlikely in the current partisan atmosphere.
And that is the heart of the matter with Hussein Obama. It’s not about jobs, it’s not about the economy, it’s not about the American people, it’s not about our health and welfare, it’s not about recovery. It’s about the Democrats and their plans to retain control of the U.S. government, thus allowing the current regime even more opportunities to rape the American taxpayer further.
The economy continues to dominate public concern. The public sector slashed 159,000 jobs in September, including the largest cuts by local governments in 28 years. Obama said his program would boost employment right away and help make up for what he called years of costly inattention to the country’s infrastructure.
All the Obama regime can do is point their fingers and blame Bush.
Obama: “Republicans Messed Up So Bad” That Millions Are Still Out Of Work
“There are three million Americans who would not be working again if not for the economic plan Joe and I put in place, that’s the truth,” President Obama told a crowd in Philadelphia.
“The hole we’re climbing out of is so deep. The Republicans messed up so bad, left such a big mess, that there is [sic] still millions of Americans without work,” he added. SOURCE
