Obama: Let’s hope lessons of Katrina were learned

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Barack Obama expressed hope Saturday that the lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina three years ago would help to protect the Gulf Coast from Hurricane Gustav this time. His running mate, Joe Biden, urged people to pray that the levees in New Orleans hold.

Obama and Biden visited a diner in this Youngstown suburb, an area that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton carried during her failed presidential bid. Trying to connect with those who are economically struggling, the Democratic candidates and their wives chatted with diners and told reporters that a properly orchestrated evacuation would be key to protecting the Gulf Coast.

“It wasn’t last time, and hopefully we’ve learned from that tragedy,” Obama told reporters as he left the diner, heading to a memorial service for the late Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress. She died Aug. 20 from a brain hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm.

Obama and Biden planned another joint appearance later Saturday in the Columbus area.

Obama: Let’s hope lessons of Katrina were learned

Barack Hussein Obama is one of the stupidest Dems to ever draw breath! This is the man that would be president of the USA, this is the man of NO experience, NONE. Not military, not business, not as a community leader, not as a Mayor, not as a Governor, NOTHING, other than being a JUNIOR Senator that doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground!

He “hopes” that lessons were learned from Katrina?

Pay attention you dimwitted imbecile! Louisiana learned the lessons, they dumped Blanco, a pandering Democrat that is even dumber than you are, and that is hard to imagine.

New Orleans has learned NOTHING, they still have *Chocolate* Ray, they have Warren Riley and they still have the welfare mentality that made New Orleans the debacle it is.

Here’s something a lot of Dem libs and *nanny state* moonbats don’t understand, 1st response is the job of the city, the Parish and then the state, IN THAT ORDER. 1st response is NOT the job of federal government. During Katrina the government in Louisiana ceased to function, Blanco wasn’t in danger, she was in Baton Rouge with her head buried in her fat ass crying “Oh my God, what do I do? Why isn’t the President helping?”. Nagin deserted his city and took his wife and kids to Dallas, where they still live today.

Lessons learned Barack?? You betcha there were lessons learned! Katrina gave everyone a real hard look at what this nation could be like if the Dems are ever allowed to take full control. The state of Louisiana learned a HUGE lesson, New Orleans didn’t.

Let’s hope that America pays attention to how an effective Republican and Conservative Governor takes care of business, the Honorable Bobby Jindal.

The Guard is in place right now, the entire Louisiana Army National Guard is activated, there are many troops already on station with more troops are on the way. There is a massive response ready to react to any eventuality. Response, or, more precisely, lack OF a response, that was the downfall of the nefarious Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

Dem Governors sit on their asses and watch as their cities gets washed away, sit on their asses and do NOTHING except wait for someone to come in and do it for them! Conservative Governors are planned out so far in advance that only the hand of God can hinder their full response to the needs of their people!

Let’s hope Obama will demonstrate his leadership ability and monitor the situation in New Orleans during the hurricane from a levy. Maybe he’ll stand right up top and wave his had and command the waters to be still.

If that son of a bitch does stand on a levy in NOLA and if God doesn’t personally kill him, maybe one of his crackhead Bros will…

I have never held such a deep seated HATRED for anyone in my entire life…

That halfbreed son of a bitch is a disaster looking for a place to happen…

If what happened after Katrina happens again this time, McCain will have a hard time in Nov. But if the opposite happens, then McCain’s chances are good.

I pray that Bush doesn’t fumble the ball.

Katie, there is NO ball to fumble… 1st response is the job of the city, the Parish and then the state, IN THAT ORDER. 1st response is NOT the job of federal government.

3,500 La Army National Guard troops are IN New Orleans, right now…

And BUSH has nothing to do with anything, not yet, this is a STATE matter, as it should be, there has been NO disaster, YET, but once there is, IF there is, then the STATE is still the 1st responder…

Honestly if New Orleans falls off into the ocean again, I’m writing my congressman to tell him not to rebuild it. I know it sounds callous but I don’t know if we’re trying to prove how much money we can flush down the proverbial toilet by rebuilding a city and acting shocked when it floats away again.

You can bet Governor Jindal has the situation well in hand. And, just like before Katrina, you can bet Federal troops are mobilized and supplies and equipment are being pre-positioned at military installations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Alabama.

Texas Fred is COMPLETELY correct on this. FEMA is NO such “first responder” nor were they or ANY FEDERAL AGENCY crafted to be first emergency responders. Even the hallowed FBI is NOT a first responder. I’ve worked for the FBI and now with local law enforcement in Fornicalia. Even when on Squad 3 — the most responsive squad in the entire building — locals beat us to bank jobs EVERY time. It got to the point where we didn’t even take note jobs any more.

The problem is that the general and ill-educated public believe — and have been TRAINED to believe after generations of handouts and Free Shit from the Fed — that the federal government WILL and SHOULD be there first. NOT.

TF has this one nailed. Louisiana woke up. Jindal is one helluva effective choice and makes Blanco look like a slacker kindergartner. But NOLA never has and never WILL wake up.

Why? As Nagin said: their Chocolates have been too effectively TRAINED.

The mobilization of disaster reponders for Gustav appears to show that many lessons were learned. Its now projected to reach Cat 5 before making landfall on Tues as a Cat 4, and target is New Orleans.

Storm, I’m pretty much on top of it, I have 3 daughters and 3 grand kids on the road heading north to Shreveport right now…

My Son is an E5 with the 256th BCT La Army National Guard, they are at NOLA Airport, staged to react to the worst hit areas, and there will be some serious devastation..

He is also a Sheriffs Deputy but the Guard activated everyone, even local, state and parish 1st responders, and THAT is very unusual, most times they leave 1st responders, Law, Fire and Med personnel, in place… Not this time…

Fred, we’ll be praying for your family.

My wife is in Shreveport right now vising her son. All they should get is some rain and wind.

BobF, thanks man, same goes your way too…

My girls made it to their aunts and other family about 0230 this AM, they are OK… Just talked to my Son, he’s staged with a whole load of Guard troops at the airport in Kenner, NOLA Airport… He was about to take a nap, they had to roll out at 0345 this AM, some briefing thing, you know how that goes…

I am feeding his herd NWS Hurricane Reports almost hourly, over cell with email text, they are getting no REAL information, you know how that goes too I am sure…

I sincerely hope that the first group of “looters” are shot dead by the National Guard troops, or any law abiding force, including a property owner.
Any looter or thief should basically know by now, that none of these types of activities will be tolerated.

So, lets wait and see how things develop.
