Mexico: Cartels team up to destroy hit men gang

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Two Mexican drug cartels have joined forces to destroy a feared gang of hit men along the border with Texas, a shift in allegiances that is fueling drug-war violence, federal police said Monday.

Intelligence reports indicate the Gulf and La Familia cartels - formerly bitter rivals - have formed an alliance to fight the Zetas gang in the Mexican border state of Tamaulipas, said Ramon Pequeno, the head of the anti-narcotics division of Mexico’s federal police.

It was the first official confirmation of the alliance, which has been rumored since banners appeared throughout the region announcing the pact and warning residents not to leave their homes, saying the conflict would get worse. E-mails were also sent with the same message.

The campaign to wipe out the Zetas has raised fears of open warfare in Tamaulipas, with armed men throwing up roadblocks around army garrisons and ambushing military patrols, brazen tactics that experts say are meant to get soldiers out of the way of the turf war.

It only gets worse as every day goes by.

Mexico has deployed tens of thousands of troops to the border and other regions to combat drug trafficking groups, an effort backed by U.S. intelligence work and aid. Gang violence has surged despite the three-year-old deployment, claiming more than 18,000 lives since 2006.

Last weekend, assailants threw a grenade at the U.S. consulate in Nuevo Laredo, a city across the border from Laredo, Texas. Nobody was hurt.

Why isn’t a U.S. consulate considered to be sovereign U.S. soil? Just like an embassy? An attack on one of our embassies is an attack on the United States, is it not?

On Monday, the State Department extended until May 12 the authorized departure of relatives of U.S. government employees from consulates in Nuevo Laredo and five other border cities - an indication that Washington does not expect the violence to subside soon.

When the U.S. government begins to move nonessential personnel from the area, you can bet that there is some really good intelligence coming in saying that an attack of some sort is imminent.

It’s a never ending battle, the Mexican border has never been a safe place, but today it’s sheer chaos. Murder is the order of the day. Drug cartels own Mexico, and for some reason, I think they may own a few past and present U.S. presidents.

FORT HANCOCK, Texas — Ever since the violence spiked in the Valley of Juarez, right across the border from Fort Hancock, Hudspeth sheriff’s deputies and police are on alert.

Chief Deputy Mike Doyal said patrols are being conducted at the schools in order to stop the violence from coming to the town.

“We’ve rearranged some of our personnel in order to keep more deputies not only in the area but around our schools,” said Doyal.

Patrol units are constantly circulating the Fort Hancock area, a town with a population of about 2,000 people.

U.S. Representative Ciro Rodriguez, D-Texas said the area is well protected.

I like our Governor, I have respect for him, as things stand at this moment.

But if we don’t get some serious relief on the Texas/Mexico border, in the form of well armed and fully combat ready Texas Army National Guard troops, Texas Air National Guard and any other forces necessary, I am pretty sure that we’re going to see Texas border towns shot up old west style, and we’re gonna see a lot of dead Texans soon.

When that happens, and yes, I said WHEN, not IF, then there’s going to be some REAL Texans that will be ready to go to war against Mexicans, anyone that looks Mexican, anyone that sounds Mexican, anyone suspected of even being remotely connected to Mexico, the violence will happen, all over this state.

Mexicans will be looked upon as *fair game*, and then a lot of innocent folks of Hispanic decent will be in the cross-hairs.

That’s an issue that Gov. Perry, and Barack Hussein Obama both need to take under careful consideration.

I doubt that Barack Hussein Obama gives a damn, it would only be Americans dying, why should he care? But Rick Perry had better *MAN UP* in a damned big hurry or he’s going to be losing a lot more than just support in his bid to remain Governor of Texas! If a Texan won’t stand up for Texas, he needs to be run out and replaced.

I don’t advocate any form of violence against Gov. Perry or any other elected official, but if Gov. Perry doesn’t act NOW, come election day a lot of Texans may not act in HIS favor! And that would be a real shame.

    Heh heh heh.

The comments are pretty good - and illustrate the difference between the liberal gunphobes and people who have handled firearms.

Damn… Those comments illustrate the difference between libberpukes and normal people… I made a comment or 2 on that paper a while back, got the impression that they are over-run with libbers…

The writers are, for the most part, libleaning lefty obakalovers. The people behind the scenes - you know, the ones who do the REAL work - are mostly conservative, hardworking people who love the freedoms that most of them have served and protected.

What has Rick Perry done to try to secure the border?

    Very damned little…

That’s what I thought. Not much more … or maybe less … than KBH.

Mexico is on the cusp of an entirely brand new paradigm.

    And that is this:

    NO tourism coming.

    MANY Americans leaving.

    American dollars LEAVING.

But those are responses predicated but upon American civilians making their own independent decisions.

    The American government?

They will fall WAY behind the Common Sense Strata.

Because they have WHAT?? Oh yeah: “Hope and Change.”

In the meantime, dodge the bullets.

    MEXICO is a LOSER NATION.

Do you read me?? MEXICO IS A LOSER NATION POPULATED BY BARBARIANS AND IGNORANT PEOPLE. WE NEED TO KEEP THEM OUT OF OUR SOVEREIGN COUNTRY.

You want this nation to look like Mexico today? Fine. You keep on your current path, Federal Government.

Perhaps a bullet to Biden’s brain?

THAT’S your governmental future with Mexico.

BZ is correct, Mexico is changing and what use to be the no. 2 source of foreign dollars is drying up just as many of Mexico’s oil fields are doing. The economy will tank and we will have a flood of new illegals flocking to our borders for the handouts promised by Obama and gang. The violence has already spilled across and will get worse. Fred you are correct in saying than when more Americans die those latinos living in the states will really have to watch their backs, espically in those areas where their numbers are not too great such as my little home town here in southwest Mississippi. We only have a few dozen, but they stick out like a sore thumb.

We do need to brace ourselves for a new wave of illegals despite the poor economy here—its much worse south of the border.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head……..

right along with congressional scum & senatorial shitbags as well.

I find the Boarder Deligation letter a bit disingenuous. All who signed that letter are shills for Obama. I live in Ortiz’s district and have yet to hear him talk about border security. Believe the letter was written for CYA purposes only. All five who signed that letter are for amnesty and open borders.

I looked over at the young NG Private just returned from the Sand Bag, and asked. “How do you spell loser?” He said, “Mexico!” Not bad for a Private, not bad at all!
