McCain taps Alaska Gov. Palin as vice president pick

McCain taps Alaska Gov. Palin as vice president pick

(CNN) — Sen. John McCain on Friday announced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential candidate, calling her “the running mate who can best help me shake up Washington.”

“She’s exactly who this country needs to help me fight the same old Washington politics of me first and country second,” the presumptive Republican nominee said at a Dayton, Ohio, rally of about 15,000 supporters, who welcomed the surprise pick of the relatively unknown politician with cheers and flags.

“She’s got the grit, integrity, good sense and fierce devotion to the common good that is exactly what we need in Washington today,” McCain said.

Palin, 44, told the crowd, “To have been chosen brings a great challenge. I know that it will demand the best that I have to give and I promise nothing less.”

Palin is a first-term governor who unseated incumbent Gov. Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary in 2006 and went on to defeat former Gov. Tony Knowles, a Democrat, in the general election.

She will be the first woman to be nominated for vice president as a Republican and only the second to run for vice president on a major party ticket, after Democrat Geraldine Ferraro in 1984.

Palin also will be the first Alaskan to be on the ticket for either party.

I have NOT made ANY secret of the fact that I am not terribly enthusiastic about John McCain becoming the President of the USA.

Be that as it may, I am absolutely convinced that there is NO WAY the American people can allow Obama and O’Biden to take the Oval Office. It is just not an acceptable scenario, not in any way, shape, form or fashion.

That said, today John McCain made a decision that brought his stock up greatly in my estimation. Today John McCain announced that Sarah Palin of Alaska is going to be his running mate in his quest for the presidency.

Sarah Palin is a great choice in my opinion, and one that makes McCain a much more desirable choice for the office of POTUS. Palin brings style and grace into this race. She is a very smart and politically savvy candidate, she is Pro Life, Pro ANWR drilling, Pro Gun owners rights and she is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

It is with great relief that I say, I can now honestly support a McCain for President ticket. The addition of Sarah Palin to this ticket makes it what I believe to be an unbeatable combination!

Kay Bailey Hutchison says McCain hasn’t asked her about VP

August 28th, 2008 . by TexasFred
McCain hasn’t asked her about VP
AUSTIN – U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Thursday she hasn’t been asked to be John McCain’s running mate, despite speculation that she’s a possible choice for the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket.

The Texas senator told a gathering of the Texas Association of Counties that she doesn’t have plans to be in Ohio on Friday, where McCain could announce his vice presidential pick.

Hutchison later told reporters she believes McCain has already made his choice. And she reiterated that she wasn’t asked.

“As you all know I said very early on that my sights were a different place and I did not want to be considered,” said the senator, who has hinted that she might run for Texas governor in 2010.

KBH tried her very best to *back door* the *Amnesty Act*, it was at that point in time that I lost ALL respect for her, and up until that time I thought she was nothing less than absolutely awesome.

And yes, rumor has it she wants to retire from the Senate, come home to run for Governor of Texas in 2010.

I hope she has a good retirement package from the Senate, because she’s doing her last turn as Senator I believe, and I know that MANY of us here in Texas will work as hard as we possibly can to keep her OUT of the Governors Office.

The most legendary Lady Lawmaker in Texas history, none other than Kay Bailey Hutchison herself, supported this travesty, Immigrant Dream Act Fails Key Senate Vote.

In one vote Kay Bailey Hutchison went from being the toast of Texas to being the most talked about, back stabbing turncoat in modern Texas history. I personally wrote 3 letters to Hutchison, asking about this unbelievable vote, and I got NO response, not even a *canned* courtesy message from a staffer.

As one of the comment makers on DN.com said, “If McCain were to pick Hutchison, that would be the END of his run for the Whitehouse.”, and that pretty much says it all.

We don’t need the entire Executive Branch in love with ILLEGAL immigration.

Factory had tension between union, immigrants

August 28th, 2008 . by TexasFred

Factory had tension between union, immigrants

LAUREL, Miss. - Union bosses in this region of rural Mississippi have long grumbled that the largest factories here hire illegal immigrants, and that the immigrants were starting to get more overtime and supervisory positions.

Friction between the union and immigrant workers, along with a tipoff at an electrical manufacturing plant, boiled over this week into the biggest workplace immigration raid in the nation’s history.

When the first of the 595 suspected illegal immigrants was taken into custody Monday, some fellow workers broke into applause. A spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the investigation started three years ago after agents received a tip from a union member.

Factory had tension between union, immigrants

This is the 1st time in my life I have ever said a good word regarding a union, any union, but that is about to change.

I don’t know what the real story is, all we have is “he said, on conditions of anonymity“, and quite frankly, I don’t care who did it or why they did it. This is the 1st time that I can remember a union actually doing something GOOD for the American worker.

I don’t care how many more ILLEGALS ICE rounds up, they’ll never get them all, and it will never be enough, but this is a great start. And lets face facts, you have to start somewhere, and again, quite frankly, I am surprised that our amnesty loving POTUS didn’t try to step in and stop this from happening, George W. Bush seriously loves him some ILLEGALS, Mexicans in particular.

Contacted Wednesday, Howard Industries referred reporters to the statement it issued Monday, which said the company “runs every check allowed to ascertain the immigration status of all applicants for its jobs. It is company policy that it hires only U.S. citizens and legal immigrants.”

Apparently NOT!! 595 suspected illegal immigrants were taken into custody Monday, that doesn’t speak very well for your employment office, it’s staff or their efforts in ascertaining the status of at least 595 of your employees.

That press release is nothing more than an attempt by some higher ranking officials with Howard Industries at covering their own asses.

“I need a job and got kids. I heard that they need some help now,” said Willie Keys, 20, who applied Wednesday. “All them Mexicans got fired because they didn’t have a pass … All these businesses have been taking Americans’ jobs.”

I have to disagree with ya there Willie, maybe you don’t understand, maybe you didn’t know how to say it just right, whatever, but the businesses haven’t been taking American jobs, the businesses are creating jobs in America and then giving them to the ILLEGALS.

And now it’s time for ICE to do an even more comprehensive investigation. Hold the company, and it’s officials responsible. Make an example out of them and let it be known, this is how we’re going to be doing it from now on. If you break the laws of this land, you pay up! And it’s about time too!

There are Americans that will do these jobs. There are Americans that will be quite happy to join the union and pay dues, and they will quite likely be happy to work whatever overtime is necessary to get the jobs done. And the money they make will be going back into the American economy, as opposed to that of many ILLEGALS, the ones that live and work here, on a shoestring, as they send the bulk of their money out of the USA.
