Obama implores Senate to pass climate bill

WASHINGTON (AP) - Hours after the House passed landmark legislation meant to curb greenhouse gas emissions and create an energy-efficient economy, President Barack Obama on Saturday urged senators to show courage and follow suit.

The sharply debated bill’s fate is unclear in the Senate, and Obama used his weekly radio and Internet address to ratchet up pressure on the 100-seat chamber.

“My call to every senator, as well as to every American, is this,” he said. “We cannot be afraid of the future. And we must not be prisoners of the past. Don’t believe the misinformation out there that suggests there is somehow a contradiction between investing in clean energy and economic growth.”

The legislation would place the first national limits on emissions of greenhouse gases from major sources - such as power plants, factories and oil refineries - to reduce the gases linked to global climate change. It would also start moving the U.S. away from fossil fuels and toward cleaner power sources, like geothermal, wind, solar and more nuclear generators.

This battle is NOT over. Not by a long shot. It’s still got to pass the Senate. And if the Senate has fewer RINOs than the Congress, and if the Dems in the Senate have the good sense, and the COURAGE to stand as some Dems did in the Congress, this could still be stopped. We ALL have 2 Senators, it’s not hard to FLOOD 2 Senators.

Hammer them incessantly. Jam their emails, faxes and phone systems. Make them fully aware that we plan to vote OUT any RINO that votes for this Cap and Trade bill. Make them aware, we have a *HIT LIST* started for the Congress. No, not THAT kind of *hit list*.

Some folks in Congress are going to lose their job! The Senate is our next project!

House Democratic leaders said the bill helped accomplish one of Obama’s campaign promises and would make the U.S. a leader in international efforts to address climate change when negotiations take place in Copenhagen later this year.

We’re going to be a leader at a conference in Copenhagen? We need to worry about a lot more than leading some lame effort in Denmark.

I don’t know what efforts other nations are making world wide, but let me point you to this thought. Beijing was so polluted that China shut down ALL industry in an effort to achieve immediate cleanup of their air during the recently past Olympics. Once the games were over they went right back to their normal operation.

I lived in El Paso, Texas 25 years ago. Downtown El Paso, and the immediate area, was always blanketed with a layer of airborne filth. So much so that the EPA was threatening El Paso with all kinds of penalties and fines and so forth. Then the EPA pulled it’s head out of it’s ASS and did a study. Approximately 90% of all that pollution was not coming from El Paso, it was coming from Juarez, Mexico. Oops, sorry, we goofed, proceed…

Save the earth, save the air, all that stuff sounds great. We can’t do it all. Americans can’t be expected to sit back and allow OUR already heavy tax burden to be increased and used to BREAK the American taxpayer as WE carry the weight of this ridiculous Cap and Trade debacle.

Do we need to protest? Yes, we DO need to protest. Yes, we DO need to raise TOTAL HELL, but this spontaneous *call to action* for a NOON rally on Saturday, made at 10PM on Friday night, isn’t going to get the job done. That call, in my opinion, is just a sad example of poor planning and poor leadership.

If you’re going do something, DO IT BIG, and prepare a bit. Then do it at an effective time. Noon Saturday is NOT an effective time. Protests of convenience are NOT going to do a lot of good. And yes, I DO know that folks have jobs, but weekend radicals are NOT too terribly effective.

There is a NEWS CYCLE folks, and Saturday NOON is NOT exactly what you would call a prime event time. Not for news or political action. Why do you think so many political deals are struck on Friday night? The politicians KNOW, weekend news SUCKS, and the coverage is sparse at best. There are some areas of expertise where we can actually LEARN a few things from our pandering politicos.

If you want to get some attention, set up a 48 hour non-stop protest! Grid lock the whole damned place. A handful of soccer Moms, and old retired folks like me aren’t gonna help anything, but if you roll out 1,000 protesters on NOON Monday, and keep adding to that number over the next 48 hours, you’ll get some notice.

And you’ll find out who’s really serious about this TEA Party protest stuff and who’s just running their mouths wanting attention…

Today you were scammed by the House of Representatives, and despite the fact that you shut down the phones of virtually every Representative in the nation, they ignored you and voted for another bill which they haven’t even read.

HR 2454 The American Clean Energy & Security Act (Previously named CAP & TRADE) passed, with the assistance of eight Republican votes. The House added 300 pages today, none of them have read it, and they still voted for it. How much abuse will will we take from politicians that don’t care about us any longer?

So, the question is, what are you willing to do about it? We have watched in awe as Iranians have taken to the streets of their nation to protest a corrupt and abusive government. Do we have what it takes to stand up to our own government and tell them that we won’t take it anymore? Do we have the genes passed to us by our forefathers, who risked their lives to preserve their freedom?

What do you want to do? Many are suggesting that we take to the streets now…immediately, around the country…at every Federal courthouse, in every city. Are you willing? Are you ready? Is it time to say NO MORE????!!!!!

Please let us know ASAP what you want to do. Do you want to take to the streets right now? It’s Friday night across the country, and a good time to hit the streets if you want to express yourselves. Do we want to do it tomorrow? Many Patriots are angry and demanding immediate action.

This is a true grass roots movement and we aren’t going without you. Is it time to light a grass fire and hit the streets tonight or tomorrow?

OK, they just about had me. Right up until that part about watching in awe as Iranians have taken to the streets of their nation to protest a corrupt and abusive government.

IF we take to the streets, IF the American people are ready to go that far, at least speaking for me and mine, it won’t be remotely similar to what we’re seeing in Iran, and it won’t be remotely related to the reasoning espoused by the regime in Iran as one group of Iranian Muslims war against another group of Iranian Muslims over who has the most religiously correct, adequately corrupt and thoroughly abusive government, and which one they will follow as they prepare to relaunch their Death to America campaign.

And the Iranians WILL relaunch their Death to America campaign, count on it!

We may very well need to take it to the streets, but to compare some patriotic type of action here in America to the Islamic infighting taking place in Iran just doesn’t sit too well with me for some reason.

Calling the fighting in Iran a protest against a corrupt and abusive government is, in MY opinion, a very disingenuous statement. Theirs is a fight over who controls the violent and oppressive theocracy they live under. Ours is a fight to preserve FREEDOM in America and to stop this nation from becoming one of those radical Islamic satellite nations.

For God and Country, against ALL enemies, both foreign and domestic. Is NOW the time? Have we been saddled with the straw that breaks the camel’s back?? Deo vindice!

And to all TEXAS PATRIOTS, I ask this; is now the time for Texas to once again become a FREE REPUBLIC? Free from the bonds of Washington, D.C.? Free from a Kenyan POSER that is rapidly taking this nation to HELL?

I look at the numbers in the United States right now and I seriously wonder, is it worth saving? When over 50% of the Congress is so stupid that they would vote for this Cap and Trade debacle? When over 50% of this nation won’t so much as whimper as their elected officials sell them down the river? Do WE have the power to over come that deficit?

Or do we start over in a FREE REPUBLIC?

We Now Have A Total Gangster Government

There is only one part of this I can disagree with, at the very end of the video it implores the viewer to ‘FIRE EM ALL’, well, I am not about to fire the most Conservative, most Pro-American Congressman in the business. I am not about to vote against Mr. Sam Johnson, I don’t care what anyone says.

The United States Congress is where Texans are a lot better off and a lot better represented than many parts of the nation. Our U.S. Senators SUCK, and that’s giving them BOTH a very kind assessment, but our Congressional Representatives, the ones from my area of Texas,  Sam Johnson (R-3), Ralph Hall (R-4) and  Jeb Hensarling (R-5), are the best of the best.

No earmarks. No pork. Won’t raise taxes. Solid pro-life. Great Conservatives one and all, you just don’t FIRE the 1st Team!

It appears that Michele Bachmann, (R-6) of Minnesota, is also one of those REAL Conservatives. She points out quite well the hypocrisy of the Democrats, the *Gangster Government* that is now running wild in Washington, D.C.

These are the people that America NEEDS. These are the people that American Conservatives must support. We, as Conservatives, can’t be duped into supporting FAUX Conservatives, or as I prefer to call them, RINOs.

And we can’t be duped into supporting the organizations that DO support the RINOs. No matter WHO gets their knickers in a twist. We must TAKE AMERICA BACK, but we can’t get it done by backing those that tout the likes of Sen. John Cornyn as a “strong conservative voice in Washington”, and those that think Sen. Hutchison would be a great Governor. There’s not a REAL Conservative bone between the both of them!

Are you hearing us Austin? The eyes of Texas are upon YOU! Business as usual and faux Conservatism is NOT going to get the job done, and it’s not going to get ANYONE elected, or re-elected!
