In Tuesday speech, Obama to promote new job ideas

WASHINGTON – In his latest job creation effort, President Barack Obama is trying to find practical and politically feasible ways of spurring hiring among skittish employers.

Among the ideas expected in his economic speech Tuesday is an expanded program that gives people cash incentives to fix up their homes with energy-saving materials, senior administration officials have told The Associated Press. Obama is leaning toward new incentives for small businesses that hire new workers and new spending on roads, bridges and other public works, the officials said.

The president also is open to a federal infusion of money to cash-strapped state and local governments, considered among the quickest and most effective — though expensive — ways to stem layoffs.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the package and Obama’s speech were being developed. The officials emphasized that Obama probably won’t mention in his speech every job idea he will eventually support, and that his address is meant only as one step in a debate that’s sure to keep going.

Let’s take a look at poverty in our cities and what the Democrats have done to alleviate it so far.

City, State, % of People Below the Poverty Level

1. Detroit , MI 32.5%
2. Buffalo , NY 29.9%
3. Cincinnati , OH 27.8%
4. Cleveland , OH 27.0%
5. Miami , FL 26.9%
5. St.. Louis , MO 26.8%
7. El Paso , TX 26.4%
8. Milwaukee , WI 26.2%
9. Philadelphia , PA 25.1%
10. Newark , NJ 24.2%

The above numbers are from the U.S. Census Bureau, 2006 American Community Survey, August 2007

What do the top ten cities (over 250,000) with the highest poverty rate all have in common?

Detroit , MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1961;

Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn’t elected one since 1954;

Cincinnati , OH (3rd)…since 1984;

Cleveland , OH (4th)….since 1989;

Miami , FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor;

St. Louis , MO (6th)….since 1949;

El Paso , TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor;

Milwaukee , WI (8th)…since 1908;

Philadelphia , PA (9th)…since 1952;

Newark , NJ (10th)….since 1907.

Albert Einstein once said, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’

It is the poor who habitually elect Democrats, yet they are still POOR.

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.” ~Abraham Lincoln~

Televangelism empire in chaos over family split

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) — Once one of the nation’s most popular televangelists, the Rev. Robert H. Schuller is watching his life’s work crumble.

His son and recent successor, the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, has abruptly resigned as senior pastor of the Crystal Cathedral. The shimmering, glass-walled megachurch is home to the “Hour of Power” broadcast, an evangelism staple that’s been on the air for more than three decades.

The church is in financial turmoil: It plans to sell more than $65 million worth of its Orange County property to pay off debt. Revenue dropped by nearly $5 million last year, according to a recent letter from the elder Schuller to elite donors. In the letter, Schuller Sr. implored the Eagle’s Club members — who supply 30% of the church’s revenue — for donations and hinted that the show might go off the air without their support.

“The final months of 2008 were devastating for our ministry,” the 82-year-old pastor wrote.

The Crystal Cathedral blames the recession for its woes. But it’s clear that the elder Schuller’s carefully orchestrated leadership transition, planned over a decade, has stumbled badly.

Shoot, I’ll pray for y’all. I have a PayPal account on the sidebar of this blog, send $5.00 and a prayer request in the comments section and I’ll say a prayer in YOUR name, I promise, I really will pray for you.

And it’ll do you just as much good as one of these ultra-rich televangelists praying for you!! Amen?? AMEN!!

I know some folks that are successful *full gospel* preachers, they have a very sizable church and following. I know where they came from, I know what they were before they found *the calling*, well, I’m feeling that calling!! The calling that says I can pray for you just as good as some of these other folks can.

If you have been a regular reader of this blog you KNOW that I say what I mean and mean what I say. I’m in a financial bind too, just like the rest of America, and I feel the calling!!

The calling to get up and do a little old time fire and brimstone preaching. I can rant on just as well, and with a hell of lot more sincerity, than some of these TV preachers can. All I have is a computer, they have their multi-million dollar homes, churches and production companies. They want donations of thousands of dollars, I just need a $5.00 donation. Cheap prayers work just as well as high dollar ones!

Hey, it worked for Kenneth Copeland, Dr. Gene Scott and Rev. Bob Tilton. Well, it worked for a while anyway. I figure we’ll end up taking it on the road so we can reach as many of the sick and afflicted as possible, and it makes it harder for the IRS to track you that way too!

That’s all there is to it Brothers and Sisters, a $5.00 donation and a prayer request in the comments sections and it’s a done deal. I wonder?? Is this how Dial-A-Prayer got started?
