Forgotten gun at school may lead to explusion

November 2nd, 2008 . by TexasFred

Can YOU find the *GUN* in this story?

Ashley Wiener thought she might get some flak for leaving her 1986 Toyota Camry parked overnight at Sachse High School. But she never imagined a knife that her boyfriend left in the car would turn her junior year into a nightmare.

Ashley, 16, and her mom, Christine Omar, say the knife – or what they call a sword – is for decorative purposes only and was going to be used as a prop at a friend’s haunted house.

“I was shocked because I didn’t think there was anything in there until I remembered, ‘Oh no, he left his knife in the car,’ ” Ashley said. “I was upset. I was crying. I didn’t know what to do because I hadn’t been in trouble like that before.”

The knife landed Ashley in Garland ISD’s alternative education campus for students with disciplinary problems. This means 32 days away from her regular classes and teachers. She and her mother say the district’s zero tolerance policy defies the common sense that should be applied to a good student who makes an innocent mistake.

Garland ISD officials would not talk about Ashley’s case but said they are following district policies and state law.

OK, I am going to make a guess here, the DMN will make an edit, call it a *typo* and blow it off, but I honestly don’t think it’s a *typo*, I think it’s a mindset on the part of the DMN writer, a writer that is most likely a libber and a gun hater, and GUN was the 1st word that popped into her prejudiced head.

And NO, that’s NOT a typo in the title line, it was spelled as *explusion*, I am pretty sure it’s supposed to be EXPULSION

For the love of God, it’s EXPULSION, not explusion, this is a trash piece written by a less than 3rd rate HACK!! You’re supposed to be a professional journalist, it’s called SPELL CHECK Chavez, look into it!!

I’m pretty sure the comments made on the DMN site will all be deleted as well, the DMN is notorious for that, if there’s a challenge, one that makes their so-called *writer* look bad, the critical comments just tend to go away, oh well, it’s their site, but here’s a copy of the email I sent to this HACK reporter:

It’s a knife or a short sword, or so YOUR story says, uh, you DO know the difference between an edged weapon and a gun don’t you??

Do you NOT proof read or is that just an anti-gun bias coming through?? Surely it’s not going to be called a *typo*??

Gun. Knife. Nope, the old ‘Oops, I made a typo’ excuse just isn’t going to get it done!! I think it’s anti-gun prejudice showing!

I am wondering if perhaps this Stella Chavez is a product of an education provided by the DISD, or is she just that damned ignorant?

EDIT TO ADD: It only took 8 hours and 38 mostly sarcastic comments for it to happen but the DMN finally realized it was a KNIFE and not a GUN and the girl is facing EXPULSION, and not EXPLUSION:P

MSNBC Drops Olbermann, Matthews as News Anchors

MSNBC Drops Olbermann, Matthews as News Anchors

MSNBC is removing Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as the anchors of live political events, bowing to growing criticism that they are too opinionated to be seen as neutral in the heat of the presidential campaign.

David Gregory, the NBC newsman and White House correspondent who also hosts a program on MSNBC, will take over during such events as this fall’s presidential and vice presidential debates and election night.

The move, confirmed by spokesmen for both networks, follows increasingly loud complaints about Olbermann’s anchor role at the Democratic and Republican conventions. Olbermann, who regularly assails President Bush and GOP nominee John McCain on his “Countdown” program, was effusive in praising the acceptance speech of Democratic nominee Barack Obama. He drew flak Thursday when the Republicans played a video that included a tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, saying that if the networks had done that, “we would be rightly eviscerated at all quarters, perhaps by the Republican Party itself, for exploiting the memories of the dead, and perhaps even for trying to evoke that pain again. If you reacted to that videotape the way I did, I apologize.”

Matthews, who has criticized politicians in both parties, drew less criticism for his convention role but became a divisive figure during the primaries when he described how he was inspired by Obama’s speeches and made disparaging remarks about Hillary Clinton, for which he later apologized.

MSNBC Drops Olbermann, Matthews as News Anchors

A huge tip of the Stetson to Bloviating Zeppelin, that’s where I found this one.

Folks, this is really an awesome development, MSNBC, the most liberal and left leaning media source today, has been shamed into removing Keith Olbermann, one of the biggest IDIOTS to ever have a talking head position. And Chris Matthews, one of the most annoying voices this side of Mark Levin, has been cut down as well.

How do you explain this?? Did MSNBC suddenly start reading the blogs?? Did they discover that their journalistic integrity was gone?? Was it the numbers?? Or lack of?? NBC is having some serious issues with rankings.

Conservative bloggers, and apparently a few MSM journalists have held MSNBC’s feet to the fire, Tom Brokaw took the high road, as have several others with the network, and to them I say, KUDOS, even if it was due to low network numbers.

Whatever it takes, return to real reporting, report the facts, report them accurately and take the opinions OUT of it on network broadcasts such as the conventions.

I have NO problem with a news person stating an opinion, on any subject, but when they do, it must be delivered as an *editorial*, and done with the clear caveat that the opinions stated are those of the speaker, so forth and so on.

If IDIOTS like Olbermann want to be *news and opinion* personalities, I suggest they get a blog, a radio program, whatever method of annoyance they care to use, and have at it. When it comes to NEWS, I want mine straight up, fair, balanced and untarnished by the liberal mindset of the person making that report, no matter what network I am listening to.

Angry Readers dump Us Magazine over Palin

Angry readers dump Us Magazine over Palin

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Three celebrity weeklies — OK!, People and Us Weekly — featured Sarah Palin on their cover, but one of those magazines is reportedly losing subscribers because of it.

Us Weekly, which unlike People and OK!, chose a rather caustic cover line (“Babies, Lies and Scandal”) is said to have lost thousands of subscribers in just the first 24 hours following the printing of the issue.

“I’m hearing it’s 5,000, maybe more,” says one well-placed source in the industry. Another source claimed that as many as 10,000 readers have already cancelled their subscriptions. A spokesperson for Wenner Media, which publishes Us, says “it is completely false that we are losing 10,000 subscribers.” As for the 5,000 estimate, the spokesperson only said “that is false, too,” but wouldn’t comment further.

Readers dump Us Magazine over Palin

All I can say is, more power to the former readers of Us Magazine. If you want to hit a company, if you want to get your point across, hit them in the wallet. That gets you more attention than ANY letter to the editor or blog post.

The media in this nation is extremely left leaning, the recent coverage of the DNC and the RNC brought that to the forefront of the presidential race. The MSM has given Obama and his family a free pass, and they call it responsible journalism. Us Magazine slams Sarah Palin, in the most hypocritical manner, and cringes when they are taken to task for their hi·jinks!

And then there’s this little cretin, a guy named John Mercurio. Mercurio rants:

ST. PAUL - Listening to Republicans here this week, it’s hard to know whether John McCain is running against Barack Obama or this evil creature they like to call the “East Coast liberal media elite.” The problem wasn’t the message; it’s a time-honored strategy for Republicans to accuse the media of liberal bias, and the media usually relents. The problem, in many cases this week, was the messengers.

SOURCE: GOP shoots the messengers

There’s a good reason the GOP and Conservative writers have accused the MSM of liberal bias John, that’s because it IS a reality!

If you read the Mercurio article you’ll see that even as he defends the MSM, claiming that it’s all John McCain’s fault because of his timing, that timing being the announcement of Palin as Vice President, he then goes on to attack Palin a bit further down the page.

Media bias? You bet there is, and it’s 99% leaning to the left. Liberal media foisted Obama off on the Democrats when they had some better choices, better as Democrats go. The MSM has decided that Obama is their golden boy, and nothing is going to stop them from getting him elected.

There’s only one problem with that thought. They forgot about the Republican vote and the Conservative vote. That Conservative vote comes from both sides of the aisle, and it’s time for Conservatives to hit back. Take the MSM to task for their bias. Make it hurt. Hit ‘em where it hurts the most, hit ‘em in the wallet!
